Shallow that attack angle

Most of you will face between 4 and 8 short pitch shots each round. Unfortunately, too many lack confidence with this shot. They fear that they’ll chunk the ball (often into a bunker) or thin it through the green. This is a shot all should master.

“What we see in an assessment is a setup that forces a steep angle of attack on the ball. The club is de-lofted, the ball is almost compressed and comes out hot. Too often the contact isn’t perfect. With a steep angle of attack the bounce on the club can’t be engaged to stop a chunk.”

“Setup on pitch shots, especially as it relates to shaft lean, ball position, and weight distribution, will all have an impact on your angle of attack. If that allows your wedge bounce to assist with the turf interaction, then ‘perfect’ contact isn’t required. The bounce leads the club under the ball.”

The gift of better pitch shots

Imagine a round where every time you’re within 40 yards you’re certain to be down in three or less. What does that do to your scorecard? How would you feel after that round? All it takes is the right technique that will improve both your pitch and chip shots. If you want to give yourself the gift of a better short-game, send us a message and let's make it happen.
