Practice makes perfect

Mimicking golf movements in the gym with resistance, helps you get stronger. The chop is an exercise that perfectly mimics the pivot. It strengthens your shoulders, core and lower body while improving the mobility in your thoracic spine and shoulders – all needed for the perfect pivot. The Titleist Performance Institute shows in the video below, how to perform this exercise.

Your thoracic spine is located in the second section of your vertebral column, between your cervical and lumbar vertebral segments. It has 12 vertebrae and forms part of your thoracic cage. This part of your spine has to be mobile if you want to avoid lower back pain, provide more rotation and torque when you pivot.

Assess for success

To avoid injury, improve mobility and increase strength in your pivot, you need to do strengthening exercises. With a simple swing assessment, we can help you identify your weaknesses and strengths and help you get the most out of your golf.

If you engage in these exercises, you agree that you do so at your own risk and assume all risk of injury to yourself.
